Tobermory (or 'Tobar Mhoire' in Gaelic, meaning "Mary's Well") is on the North East tip of the Isle of Mull, the second largest of the Inner Hebrides. Although the island covers an area of around 340 square miles, most of the island's 2,600 residents live in or around Tobermory, the islands capital.
Many younger visitors to Tobermory recognise it as 'Balamory' from the children's programme. Popular rumour has it that the name of the town was changed to prevent confusion with a character from Elizabeth Beresford's "Wombles". All of the houses in the TV show are real houses on the island (although some were repainted for filming and have since reverted). Main Street, on the harbour, contains a variety of shops and restaurants all painted in pastel colours, one of which is home to Tobermory Chocolate.
It's in this idyllic setting that Keith and Rhoda, together with their dedicated staff, strive to create the very finest hand-made chocolates and distribute them to a customer base across the world. As a reminder of a treasured visit to our fabulous island, or a unique and thoughtful gift for someone else, our chocolates are revered by chocolate addicts everywhere. Inside our shop you'll find rack upon rack of delicious chocolates, local gifts, and our humble cafe serving cakes and pastries together with the fabulously indulgent 'Death by Drinking Chocolate'. Unfortunately this online shop isn't filled with the aroma of hot chocolate in the same way that our real shop is, and our web designer is desperately waiting for scratch-and-sniff monitor technology to catch up!
We welcome you to our brand-new online shop, and hope you have a pleasant visit. Better yet, come and visit us in Tobermory.
